Alec Viveros
My art is made to intrigue and disgust. In my work I try to find a balance between the stylizing of girls and using my characters to create social commentary. I create oil paintings and digital illustrations with doll-like women put into situations meant to disturb the viewers. It is not only the content that startles, it is also the size of the artwork. Most of my pieces are larger than 40 inches wide.
I have tackled the subject of abuse, death, and plastic surgery. I enjoy the juxtaposition of cartoon-like character put into real life situations. I create painting to make the viewer stop in their track and understand that a message can be conveyed with cartoon images.
